A Camera Can Be a Dangerous Thing …

in the hands of the untrained.  I’m all for experimenting (in fact, I don’t think I’ve ever used the same camera settings twice), but sometimes you just don’t get what you envision.  With a whole lot of very bad photos to deal with, I attempted to go all artsy for this post.  Please be kind.  ;)

Outfit 1:

Top:  Clu

Skirt:  YSL

Shoes:  Alexander McQueen

Outfit 2:

Sweater:  Anthropologie

Pants:  Target

Booties:  Alexander Wang

I had several accessories to show you in both sets of photos, but those pictures couldn’t be saved … at all.  I expect I’ll reshoot these outfits at a later date, with more tried and true camera settings.

Outside The Rain and A New Bangle From Lushae Jewelry

It’s the rainy season here (our version of winter) so I brought today’s shoot inside. Even though the quality of my outdoor photos isn’t as good as my indoor photos, in general, I enjoy shooting more outside. So until the sun returns, I’ll be shooting indoors. *sigh*

I want to show you a couple of things today. First up is a quilted, leather jacket from Phoebe’s last season at Chloe. This is the first time I’ve worn it, despite having it for such a long time. With the dismal weather, I felt like a little nod to spring would be cheerful and since it’s heavy weight leather, it’s warm too.

Here you can see the quilting and the Trapunto stitching on the collar …

Here’s the second item I want to show you today. The leather jacket may not have been able to make me smile, but this next item certainly does.

Every now and then, I am asked to provide a product review; this is the first time I have accepted. When the kind folks at Lushae Jewelry contacted me, I took a look around their online store and was bowled over with all of the lovely pieces. I feel like the Lushae aesthetic is very similar to mine. With that in mind, it was challenging to choose only one piece, but finally I decided that I couldn’t live without this gorgeous Spotted Goldtone Bangle available here. Not only did I love so many of the bangles, I thought the promise rings were so, so pretty too.

The bangle is a perfect weight — not too heavy, not too light. I’m crazy about its spotted design too. I see wearing this a lot in my future.

Thank you again, Lushae Jewelry, for a stellar product and exceptional customer service.

Jacket and top: Chloe

That’s all for this post. See you soon. — Carole

Double Denim

They say a person shouldn’t repeat a trend when it’s already passed through your life once before.  Since it wasn’t that long ago that denim on denim was all the rage (late 90s, as I recall), I fearlessly repeat myself.

I guess I cheated a little with my double denim look because this top is really a faux denim …

One of my latest H&M acquisitions is this denim pencil skirt. I’ve been looking forever for a decent denim pencil skirt. I’m so thrilled to finally have this …

Alexander Wang Wrap Sweater

I first saw this sweater at Nordstrom a while ago, but since I had a Saks gift card, I pre-ordered from them.  The sweater arrived a few (maybe three?) weeks ago and I wear it here for the first time …

I also saw this sweater on shopbop and thought the styling so nearly perfect, I borrowed quite heavily.  I don’t do that often (almost never, actually), but at least I admit when I do.  :)

I still love the idea of warm and cool tones together, so I chose gold-toned metal to play against the steely gray of the sweater …

I like this sweater a lot, but sadly, it looks much better on a tall, long-torsoed girl.  That’s not going to stop me from enjoying it though.

sweater:  Alexander Wang, petal skirt:  Moschino Cheap and Chic, thigh-high socks:  Target, booties:  YSL, necklace and bracelet:  f21
