A Camera Can Be a Dangerous Thing …

in the hands of the untrained.  I’m all for experimenting (in fact, I don’t think I’ve ever used the same camera settings twice), but sometimes you just don’t get what you envision.  With a whole lot of very bad photos to deal with, I attempted to go all artsy for this post.  Please be kind.  ;)

Outfit 1:

Top:  Clu

Skirt:  YSL

Shoes:  Alexander McQueen

Outfit 2:

Sweater:  Anthropologie

Pants:  Target

Booties:  Alexander Wang

I had several accessories to show you in both sets of photos, but those pictures couldn’t be saved … at all.  I expect I’ll reshoot these outfits at a later date, with more tried and true camera settings.

Thanks for reading.  More soon.  — Carole

I can’t get over the unbelievably fantastic weather we’re having in sunny California. It’s been in the high 60s and should be in the 70s for the next couple of days. It’s such a pleasure to shoot pictures when I can do so outdoors.

And what better item to wear in this gorgeous weather than these silk, floral print booties I acquired from a Saks 70% off sale?

The bracelet is a gift with purchase. Usually, I give away GWP because I almost never like them. But this one is pretty decent, isn’t it?

Booties:  Nicholas Kirkwood for Erdem

Jacket:  Milly

Skirt:  Moschino

Bracelet:  Lee Angel

Before The Miu Miu Bow Bag …

there were these …

The Miu Miu Bow Boot. I don’t remember exactly which year these came out, but it was the season immediately following the release of the Miu Miu Double Strap Mary Jane. While these are several seasons old, I do still like them … a lot. But I don’t wear them much because I prefer to wear heels. You see, I’m not tall, only 5’1″ (maybe a bit less), in fact. So I’m sure you can understand my preference for heels. :)

Anyway, these bows (and leather type) are the same produced on the first release of the bow satchel — the heavier duty pebbled leather.

I also wear some other stuff with my boots …

You may recognize my Fox Run scarf … I try to wear it once a year, that seems to be all I can manage …

And I have a new photo guardian …

From Anthropologie (along with some other goodies soon to appear).  I think this giraffe is supposed to be a planter, but they forgot to drill drainage holes. I’m using it as a vase for now.

Sweater:  Tory Burch

Skirt:  Dolce & Gabbana

Scarf:  Jeremy Scott

Boots:  Miu Miu

That’s all for now.  Thanks for reading — Carole

For you, Mom.

These pictures are (mostly) for my Mom. Casey wants you to see her new healthy body. When she came to live with us one and a half years ago, she only weighed 50 lbs. Now Casey is up to 80 lbs. — solid muscle to boot.

I think Casey’s getting tired of doing this picture thing or maybe she’s hoping there’s something more interesting to do like chasing a squirrel …

And now for the fashion portion of the post … I love the idea of faux elbow patches on this sweater…

The shoes are very, very old.  They are from Tom Ford’s time at Gucci and are some of his best work in my opinion.

Check out the back flap things — they remind me of a fur-free trapper hat or something. In any case, they make the shoe so much more comfortable somehow.

And a Chloe leather jacket in Kelp …

Sweater: H&M
Jeans: f21
Shoes: Gucci
Jacket: Chloe
Bangle: LuShae Jewelry

p.s.  Mom, tell MaryAnne I say, “Hi.”

Shiny New Year

Happy New Year, Dear Readers! Though 2010 has been a fairly good year overall, I am looking forward to 2011 and its challenges and opportunities. Before we head out the door, I snapped a couple of photos of tonight’s outfit. I would have liked to have removed the coat, but it is so very cold, I just couldn’t do it!

Hook and eye closure running the entire front of the skirt …

This skirt is nearly a dead ringer for the Proenza Schouler skirt from this season, except mine has a lot more hooks and eyes. Much cooler than the Proenza in my opinion.

Top: Vera Wang
Tank: Sacai
Skirt: Club Monaco
Tights: Wolford
Shoes: Miu Miu
Jacket: Akris Punto

Here’s to wishing everyone a fabulous and fashionable 2011! See you next year. — Carole
