A belated Happy Mother’s Day to all!
Mother’s Day is always a time of reflection for me … Have I been a good daughter to my mom? Have I been a good mom to Casey? I like to think that I can answer yes to both questions.
Yesterday was another glorious day I got to spend with my furchild, Casey. It’s been a little over three years since Casey came to live with us and I treasure every day we have together. As you may remember, Casey was a rescue dog. Her life before coming into our home had been a very bad one. Casey had been abandoned and left for dead at a kill shelter. She had a chain embedded in her neck and had been starved nearly to death. When we brought her home (after her neck surgery and some fattening up), Casey weighed 53 pounds, had little fur on her tail, no fur on her belly, and was super skittish. We’ve come a long way since then … Casey’s currently a little over ninety pounds, super fuzzy, super feisty, and super spoiled. Using those criteria, I think I can feel like I’ve been a good mom after all!
Casey must be satisfied with her life too because she really outdid herself on my Mother’s Day gift …

I leave you today with some pictures from a few weeks ago that aren’t our best work, but I’ve been battling a pretty severe case of food poisoning.

Casey feels shy.

More soon! Thanks for reading as always. –Carole
