From Last Weekend

Today’s post is a quick one.  I wore this dress, which I’ve had for a couple of years, for the first time on Saturday.  I guess it’s not really a favorite of mine because before wearing, I threw it in the washing machine.  I’ve been washing a great deal of my dry clean only items in the washing machine, with great results.  (In the event of catastrophe, I will comfort myself with the thought that I can ruin my clothes just as easily as the dry cleaner but it won’t cost me as much.  :) )  This one was a little hairy though because when it came out, it was all shriveled up like a prune.  It’s a silk/cotton blend and apparently when wet, it contracts.  Fortunately, as it dried, it relaxed back into shape.  Ah, fun with fabric.

Pajama Dressing

Today’s look is all about comfort.  I think of an outfit of this type as Pajama Dressing because it is so comfortable, loose, soft, and completely non-restrictive.  Just like pajamas should be.  :)

I’m badly out of focus on these next two pictures, but hey, look at how crisp the fern is.  ;)

I was thrilled to finally locate these shoes. I bought them in Spring 2008 and wore them a couple of times, put them back in their box, and misplaced them.  I’m very happy to have them back in rotation.

Flowers Cubed

There’s no such thing as too many flowers in my book.  With that in mind, I decided to put together three flowery items — a yellow flower print skirt, a flower print watch, and a belt that has about a hundred or so flower appliques.  Let’s look …

The first (and most outstanding) item I’d like to talk about is this flower belt.  As I mentioned above, it must have about a hundred tiny flowers on it.  If you look closely, you can see they are different colors, different prints, and different textures.  Some of the flowers are patent leather, some are crocodile, and some are calf-hair.  There might be plain leather ones too, I’ll need to look more closely myself.  :)

The next item is a yellow flower print skirt.  I don’t wear yellow well, so I always make sure it’s away from my face …

Finally, I show you my flower print watch. Notice how the print on the band is echoed on the watch face …

I chose blue, crackle leather shoes to go with  …

The pictures I took today were taken the latest in the day I’ve ever shot.  Lots of crazy shadows, of course, but I’d thought I’d be OK with the days getting longer.  They weren’t long enough.  ;)

The Stiletto Cuts Quick

After mastering the wearing of my 5.5 inch heels the other night, I decided I was ready to take them out again.  I also wore some H&M goodies I’ve picked up over the last couple of weeks or so.

This fun little dress has a similar shoulder treatment as my Leifsdottir Shibori dress (elsewhere on the blog).

I’m going to let these photos be a lesson about the importance of taking a test shot.  I set up and just started shooting and not only are the photos crooked, my shoes are cut off too.  Oh well.

Peace, Love, and BBQ

I normally reserve my Peace sweater for trips to Berkeley (how cliche!), but today I’m promised a real Southern Style BBQ (I’m southern, so we’ll see if these Yankees learned anything from their experiences in the south :) ).  Anyway, I feel this occasion is special enough to warrant wearing my special sweater.  I wear it backwards here (and as I always do) …

And look who decided to join me in some pictures …

A job well done deserves a belly rub …

Now, I know some of you are wondering why I would post so many (similar) pictures with Casey, my dog, but my family reads my blog too and they loooove seeing lots of pictures.  Even more pictures …

I’ve changed out my watch band for white croc today…

Here, I wear my Valentine’s Day gift from Mr. Sasy, my “Time for Love” necklace.  It’s hard to see its detail in this photo, but I struggle photographing small details.  Also, notice the pockets in the peplum of my bustier (peeking out from under the sweater) …

With a jacket for later this evening …
