Chasing the Sun in Nanette Lepore …

Gili Island Leather Dress. I wanted this dress when it first came out, but I thought the price was a little steep for Nanette Lepore. I expect leather to be more expensive … still, I wanted a better price. When this dress went to 50% off, I knew it was time to make it mine.

I love its color and the cute, yet minimal, ruffle detail. I also love that it’s leather. With the dress, I wore a Steven Dweck necklace …

And Missoni ribbon laced sandals …

It was really hard to get these pictures. Our formerly amazing, but now awful, weather has made it very challenging to get outdoor photos. I had to wait and wait and wait for the 5 minutes or so of sunlight to peek through the heavy cloud cover. Here’s to hoping the weather forecasters are wrong and rest of the week will be sunny, though the prediction is for rain. Doesn’t the weather understand I have things to get photographed for the blog?!?

Thanks for reading. More when weather permits. — Carole

Hello Dear Readers,

I’d love to tell you that I’ve been too busy working on a cure for cancer, planning a mission to Mars, performing charitable acts of … idk, heart surgery maybe, but I would be lying.  I’m afraid that since the weather’s been so lovely, I’ve become a bit lazy about blogging.  I mean … who wants to work on a blog when the sun and warm temperatures are inspiring a person to dream or simply to revel in the beauty of spring.  I can tell you that I’ve managed to haul my lazy butt shopping though.  :)   Here is a teaser of some things soon to be featured on the blog …

What’s that on the right, you ask?  Is it?  Could it be?  Yes, it is …

My very first Anthropologie purchase.  I can’t promise that I will keep it (I haven’t tried it on yet), but if I do, you’ll see it here.

To my friends in the blogging community:  I’ll be stopping by your blogs soon.

That’s all for now.  I’ll post again shortly.  Until we meet again …  Carole

Fashion Crime Innocence

The only real fashion crime in the Sasy household is to buy an item and never wear it. This was the logic behind today’s outfit choice. I really do have a tremendous amount of shopping experience (not that that’s anything I’d want to list on my resume :) ), so I very, very rarely make bad choices for myself. Still, an occasional what was I thinking moment occurs. Most recently it occurred with my purchase of a pair of Rodarte for Target over the knee socks. So, in the interest of remaining innocent of Sasy household fashion crimes, I wore them … with a pair of cargo shorts.

The shorts are from Martin+Osa, the tee is Dolce and Gabbana, the shoes are Banfi Zambrelli, and the bracelet is by Polytima.

So … Was this the best I could do with these unfortunate socks? Probably not. But would you believe my dog, Casey, was hogging the mirrors and I couldn’t see what this looked like? It’s true. You see, she had to get ready for her camera moment …

Did you notice Casey’s supermodel pout?

That’s all for now. More (and better) soon. — Carole

Down To Earth

Usually, I don’t bother posting my casual looks on the blog (because they just aren’t that special), but today I decided to post something simple and easy. I recently picked up a pair of Zip Crop Field pants from Martin+Osa that I wanted to wear this evening. M+O may call these pants, Zip Crop Field pants, but I think they look a lot like cargo pants. :) With my M+O Zip Crop Field pants, I wore a cashmere sweater from YSL, a Target racer-back tee under the sweater, and a navy leather jacket from Akris. (Much better pictures of the YSL sweater and the Akris jacket are already on the blog, so look around if you like).

As you just saw, I started taking my pictures a little too late in the day, so they are dark. I kept repositioning my camera, but those pictures came out super blurry, so I couldn’t use them. I had enough light for the shoe closeup though. The booties are by Barbara Bui. The safety pin bangle is Tom Binns.

That’s all for this post. See you soon. — Carole

Tree Hugging and Sun Worship

In today’s post, I wear one of the items I purchased from Zac Posen for Target.  I actually bought most of the ZP4T items but expect to return nearly all of them.  There’s not anything wrong with the items — it’s just that I think I’m experiencing Designer for Target fatigue.  I’ve bought from nearly all of the “collections” and I enjoy a cheap/fast fashion thrill just like anyone else, but I think I have achieved burnout.

Anyway, I barely remembered any of the items after seeing the Target lookbook early in the press release process, so I was surprised when I went to buy that I didn’t recall this dress.  You see, I used to own the dress I’m going to show you.  My Target dress is cut from the same (or very nearly so)  pattern created to make the runway dress …

This dress is from Spring 2003 and is in a different print and fabrication than the Target dress, but is very, very nearly the same dress in terms of cut.  It was my first Zac Posen purchase and because I am so lazy about trying on in store, I went with the SA’s recommendation to size up.  Well, that was wrong (ZP cuts at the same sizing as most of the Italians BTW) and when I returned the dress, my size was long gone.  So, no ZP for me at that time.  Now, of course, I’m quite pleased with that outcome because the Target dress is priced far more nicely and is almost as pretty as the “real” one.  :)

I’ve broken this post into two “venues”.  First up is the tree hugging portion …

In the previous pictures, I wore the dress cinched with a Nordstom belt.  Since I didn’t like how it photographed, I removed the belt for the sun worship series …

I also wore red patent pumps from Alexander McQueen.

See you soon!  — Carole
