Trompe L’oeil on Trompe L’oeil

Let me begin this post by apologizing about the poor editing on the image above.  What can I say?  My talents lie elsewhere.  :)

In these pictures, I wear a fun trompe l’oeil dress from UK high street brand, Oasis.

This was my first order from Oasis in several years and wow, how the sizing has changed!  Maybe it’s just this dress, but maybe not.  If anyone can comment on Oasis sizing, it would be appreciated.  Anyway, the dress runs ginormous.  It is so large, I am actually going to break out my sewing machine and run a couple of seams down the sides to bring the dress in.  My talents don’t lie in sewing either, but this dress was very inexpensive so I can’t justify paying someone to do this for me, nor can I justify return postage to the UK.

I also wear Prada shoes and Wolford tights.

Thanks for reading.  More soon.  — Carole

Whew! That was close. I think those ocelots didn’t care for my ocelot print coat. That’s OK. I like it enough to make up for the cats’ grouchy attitudes. In these pictures, I wear a silk, bubble-hem, ocelot print, trench coat from Moschino Cheap and Chic …

I think what I like best about this coat is the various shadings throughout the print. When Moschino does a cat print, they always include the shading variations (Dolce & Gabbana does too). A fabric closeup …

I wear my trench with YSL booties, which I’ve been wearing a lot (a closeup is available elsewhere on my blog, so look around if you want), and Wolford tights.

That’s all for now. See you soon. — Carole

Shoes Glorious Shoes

Each season, I either feast or starve on Prada (and Miu Miu) shoes. The past couple (or maybe three) seasons, I wasn’t all that excited about their shoe offerings, so I didn’t buy any. This season, Resort 2010, they’ve stepped up their game and they are on. In this post, I show you one of two pair of Prada shoes I’ve acquired recently (you’ve already seen the Miu Miu pair I picked up, if you read my blog).

With my shoes, I wear a Pucci dress (from Christian Lacroix’s time at the house), a no name neck warmer, and Wolford tights.

Here I look annoyed with the camera, when it’s the photographer (me) I should be annoyed with :)

Now, the shoes …

Phoenix Rising

Like many fashion lovers, I tend to have names for some of my more special garments. I call this coat, “Phoenix Rising”. As you can see from the coat’s pleated skirt, when I spread its “feathers”, it’s just like the mythical bird that never dies.

The trench coat is a super-heavy, coated, wool gabardine and is by Jean Paul Gaultier. I remembered that I have this coat after seeing some of the Gaultier for Target pictures that are all over the Web. Yes, I *do* get a bit absent-minded about some of the stuff that I have. :) I also know that it needs a trip to the tailor, but I’ve been very reluctant to allow anyone else to touch this amazing garment. I actually have a few items I feel that strongly about. So, I may get the coat tailored or I may not. I’ll have to think about it. Here’s a view from the front …

Underneath the coat I wear a Rodarte for Target lace cardigan, a belt from Akris, a top from Target, a camisole under the top from Vivienne Tam, a skirt from Forever 21, Wolford tights, and my YSL booties, which are currently my favorite shoes.

Under the cardigan …

When I get the time, I like to read action/suspense fiction. As I was reading one such book, I came across the name, Gianni Agnelli, as the author was setting up the plot.

I looked up the late Gianni Agnelli and discovered that he was an Italian industrialist (Fiat) and Fashion icon. Askmen.com did a feature on him and if you’re interested, here is the link. One of his “quirks” was to wear his watch on the outside of his shirt cuff. I took my inspiration for today’s post from him and wore my Michele watch over my cardigan cuff …

Alien Abduction

Hello Dear Readers, It’s been several days since I last posted … I don’t suppose you’d believe that I was abducted by aliens, would you? What if I could prove it?

See? Fortunately, after I explained how much I enjoy blogging, they decided to return me. So, now I’m back.

I wear in these pictures a top from Akris Punto, a Rodarte for Target navy tulle skirt, a belt from Marni, and YSL booties.

A closeup so you can see the color palette …

As you can see, the top is a striped medley of forest green, brown, dark gray, and navy. The belt is my very first Marni purchase and is from 1998 or 1999. I was smitten with its brown and red ponyhair flowers — an oh-so-seventies “flower child” vibe, which I love.

And the YSL booties are from the most recent Saks 70% off sale …

I have more posts coming soon. I promise. — Carole
