Like A Dior Aviator

Several days ago, while I was at Forever 21, I came across the most darling aviator jacket.

The jacket fabric is intended to look like faux leather, but isn’t that awful leatherette/pleather fabric that is nearly impossible to wear and smells funny.  The fabric on this jacket is a “molded polyester”.  In other words, it has a lot of texture and is matte in appearance, so it looks really good.  The “shearling” is also polyester and is very soft and fluffy.  It’s pretty amazing how the new-ish polyesters are so good these days.  Polyester has come a long way, indeed.

If you’re a regular reader of my blog, then you know how an item always reminds me of something else.  (There really is nothing new in fashion.)  This jacket is no exception — when I first gazed upon it, I immediately thought Dior Fall 2005.  Let’s take a look …

I’m not going to try and convince you (or myself) that the f21 jacket is a dead ringer for the Diors — it’s not.  But it is in the spirit of these Dior jackets and is affordable, completely unlike the Diors.  IIRC, the Dior jackets retailed around $7,500 each.

I also snapped a picture of what I’m wearing underneath …

Here I wear two dresses from Topshop (the outer dress is a solid cotton knit and the inner dress is a pointelle knit), a necklace from f21, and suede Topshop Britany2 OTK boots.

That’s all for now.  More soon.  — Carole
