Everything I wear here is gray, hence this post’s title. Occasionally, I’ll do a monochromatic look. Usually not, though, because I have a lot of stuff that needs to be worn and enjoyed and I do. Having fun with my clothes and accessories is one of life’s little pleasures. I like monochromatic looks quite a lot and should wear them more often because they do give me the appearance of a little more height on my 5’1 frame.

In the first picture, I wear a Moschino Cheap and Chic cardigan & shell, a Michael Kors skirt, Trina Turk for Hue tights, and Moschino shoes. Before I went out, I threw on a gray Akris Punto coat …

My shoes are very Bottega Veneta -esque with their woven leather strips …

Simple OOTD

These pictures show my simple O(utfit)O(f)T(he)D(ay) from Monday. I wasn’t feeling at the top of my game here and it’s because I was coming down with a vicious stomach virus, which has knocked me out these last couple of days.

Before the takedown, I wore a brown cashmere sweater from Valentino that has the cutest bow ribbon woven through the middle, a bubble skirt in brown and gray from Gunex, my soon-to-be worn out ombre tights from Target, and Gucci Ostrich Claw pumps.

I bought my Gucci pumps in either fall of 2006 or 2007 (I think) and wore them exactly one time. They are terribly painful but so hot looking, I decided to try again (especially since I knew I wouldn’t be walking more than a few steps). Well, they still hurt and maybe I’ll try them again one more time way off in the future. I don’t have many Gucci shoes and never will, if this is what I can expect. I probably should break these in around the house, but out of respect for my feet, ankles, and knees, I prefer to wear only these around the house …

So, now you know a little secret about me … I *do* wear Uggs.

Painting The Town … Pink

I bought these pink leather Ralph Lauren pants and, as is fairly common for me, I didn’t get them to my tailor until recently. (So many things to get done, so little time *sigh*.) Well, they’re back and freshly leather-cleaned, so I decided to wear them last night.

I had a lot of fun wearing these last night — they make me feel so Pinky Tuscadero. I paired the pants with a Marc Jacobs suede-front and cashmere sweater from his Fall 1999 season (IMO, his very best collection), and shoes from Giuseppe Zanotti.

These shoes are so cool — they have 4 straps across (very Vivienne Westwood -ish) connected by a t-strap, a metal-tipped heel, and teeny tiny grommets (that’s what the “bumps” are).

I Only Wear Cashmere

Well, I might not only wear cashmere — but my sheep does.

I fell in love with this sweater the first time I saw it, but as sometimes (maybe often times) happens with me, I “cheaped out”. I decided that I would wait until it went on sale. It *did* go on sale and sold out before I remembered I wanted it. So, I had to wait a full year for it to show up on yoox (never a certain bet, of course). Yoox did get it, luckily, and I swooped right in and snatched it up. A good thing because it sold out there fast too.

The sweater is Moschino Cheap and Chic and I wear it with an Erin Fetherston double-faced silk skirt, Target ombre tights, and Giuseppe Zanotti wedges.

It is fairly cold here now so I put on my Tracy Feith for Target leather motorcycle jacket to leave the house …

Black and Blue (and Brown)

I really enjoy mixing colors in combinations that many people think of as difficult. As a child, I recall my mother creating some very interesting, unexpected, and beautiful color combinations. Certainly, I appreciated her color skills at the time, but now I am able to appreciate her “color genius” even more — especially since I see so many folks struggle through the color minefield. It seems to me that the two biggest color challenges for people are brown & black and black & blue.

The dress I’m wearing is a blue, brown, and black dress from Moschino Cheap and Chic. Admittedly, since the colors are already “laid out” in the pattern, it’s not the biggest color challenge in the world for me. Maybe this look is not challenging to me in the least; still, when a good challenge presents itself, I never shy away.

Anyway, the back of the dress has the cutest ruffle …

I also wear a red “bow necklace” from In God We Trust, a “dangling flower” necklace from J. Crew, and navy blue suede and black leather boots from Chloe. The boots are from Fall 2006 — what I consider to be Chloe’s very best season for footwear.
