Black & White Is Always Right

The weather has finally cooperated enough for me to pull out something I’ve been dying to wear …  my Moschino “Kill Bill” coat.  Being reminded of trompe l’oeil from the recent Moschino runway show for S/S 2010 jogged my memory into remembering my coat.  I adore trompe l’oeil, when it’s done well, and no one does trompe l’oeil as well as Moschino.

With such a statement-making garment, I keep everything else fairly simple.  I wear under the coat, a vintage blouse and a skirt from Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti.

I also wear vintage faux pearls, a chain from Elizabeth Showers, and a “dangling flower” necklace from J. Crew.

The “Kill Bill” coat in black with white colorway.  The one in the movie was white with black.

The trompe l’oeil continues onto the back of the coat.  Kindly excuse my uncombed hair :)

And the shoes are Balenciaga “turn lock” pumps …

Thanks for reading.  — Carole

  2. Oh Carole, how do you always manage to get the most to-die-for pieces? That Moschino coat is astoundingly pretty. I remember it well from Kill Bill, and it looks just as great in black.

    • Thanks so much, Jess. I recall the coat was shown on the runway with Alek Wek wearing it in white & Karen Elson wearing it in black. Both models walked together down the runway. It was very striking.
