Twas the Night Before Halloween …

and I wanted to wear my new vest/scarf thing from Target.

So I did wear it tonight.  I picked up this … item a few days ago and have been excited to wear it ever since.  As I mentioned earlier, it’s a vest & a scarf and is done in sweater knit.  It also has the cutest hood …

I really must start combing my hair ;)   Anyway, I decided to belt the vest/scarf with a vintage belt from the 80s.

I wore the vest/scarf & belt with a gray Neiman Marcus long-sleeve sweater, an Erin Fetherston double-faced silk skirt (shown much better in older blog posts, so feel free to look around), Target ombre tights that were a knock-off of the Christian LaCroix ombre tights from several seasons ago, and shoes from Banfi Zambrelli.

Early Happy Halloween!  More soon.  — Carole

Over the Moon

Really, I should call this post, Over the Moon Tank Dress. :)   When I purchased the J. Crew Moon Tank dress a few months ago, I thought it would lend itself well to layering.  And it does!  I wear it here with a Donna Karan long vest, a belt from Akris, and a bracelet from Polytima.  And, for a change, I’m wearing something a good many times (for me) while it’s still in its moment — my OTK Britany2 boots from Topshop.  I have to admit I like wearing these boots as a “leather legging” look.

Closeup of the Polytima bracelet from the last time I wore it …

I regret I only had time for one picture last night, so I didn’t get a shot of the coat I wore.  I’ll get it next time though.

Origami and Ruffles

I love origami detailing on clothing, when it’s done well. I picked up this dress a couple of years ago for that reason. The dress required a good bit of tailoring and since I was pretty slack in getting that done, I wore it for the first time last Saturday night.

The dress is by Moschino and, in addition to the origami details, has the most interesting tulip shape.

Origami detail on sleeve …

More detail on the back of the dress …

The shoes are Oscar de la Renta.  Check out the subtle “brush stroke” pattern in the leather …

Before we left, I threw on my Jillian Lewis-esque Gryphon coat smothered in ruffles …

Back view of the coat from another time I wore it …

I also wore Wolford Harmony tights.

Crazy Like a Fox

On this simple Saturday, I break out my Jeremy Scott “Fox Run” scarf for its second outing.  I bought the scarf last fall and only used it once.  With such a sad track record, I promised myself I would try to do a little better with using it this fall.

I also wear a striped sweater from Tory Burch, a forest green with dark brown leather piping (nearly impossible to see here) skirt from Moschino Cheap and Chic,  dark brown sweater tights from stockingirl, and Nina Ricci booties.  If you’re a regular reader, then you already know how much I carried on about getting these booties for a song at the eluxury.com going out of retail business sale.  Here’s a good shot of the shoes from the last time I wore them …

And so, we’re off shortly for some family fun. :)   See you soon. — Carole

Good Things Come to Those Who Wait

I have been looking for the opportunity to wear this strapless, tiered, bow across-the-bust lbd.  I never show much skin, so the dress, which is probably 3 yrs. old, has been languishing in a closet.  My cute little shrug, that I pre-ordered last summer, arrived just a few weeks ago giving me the chance to wear a dress I’ve wanted to wear for some time now.

The shrug has a double zipper and is a heavy-weight knit.  The dress is a heavy-weight silk satin and has the cutest bow detail …

My dress is RED (Valentino’s contemporary line) and the shrug is from Narciso Rodriguez.  I also wear suede, laser-cut booties from Valentino that I got in the “good old days” — last winter when retailers had to practically give merchandise away.  *sigh*  Those were some good times.  The tights are Wolford from many seasons ago and I don’t remember the style name.

That’s all in this installment.  More to come soon.  — Carole
