FNO, iPhone Apps, and Norma Kamali — Wins or Failures?

Lovely Readers, truth be told, I haven’t wanted to do outfit posts lately. I’m not making any excuses, it’s simply that taking pictures has started to feel more like work than fun, so I have taken a (fairly short) hiatus. This post is about some of the fashion-related things I’m thinking about right now and will be different from what you’re used to seeing here. :)

FNO
If you’re reading my blog, then many of you know that tomorrow night (Thursday, September 10) is “Fashion’s Night Out” (FNO). FNO is an event which, “In a global initiative to promote retail, restore consumer confidence, and celebrate fashion, U.S. and international editions of Vogue are coordinating evening extravaganzas in their respective world fashion capitals.”, according to Vogue, CFDA, NYC & Company, sponsors of the event. You can read more about it here, if you’re interested.

Many of the local stores here in my little corner of the world are having their own events. I haven’t decided if I’ll be going or not, as of now. I already feel “a little shopped out”, as I always start very early on fall (my favorite season) shopping.

iPhone Application
Related to FNO events, is the iPhone app launched at style.com. The link is here, if you want to download the app. I haven’t downloaded it yet, but will this evening.

Norma Kamali
And finally, Norma Kamali announced that she has “brought back production” to domestic factories and that she will be staging her Fall 2009 runway show at the Apple Store in Soho. This article is, by far, the most interesting link to read and is available here. Kudos to Ms. Kamali … I think her decisions are brilliant!

Feel free to express your thoughts, Dear Readers … Will you be attending any FNO events? Will FNO events, in your opinion, stimulate the retail economy? Have you downloaded the FNO iPhone app? Is it a good app or a turkey? What are your thoughts on Norma Kamali’s business strategy?

Thanks always for reading. — Carole
