Schoolboy Jacket, src: jcrew.com
No doubt, the J. Crew Boyfriend Jacket (and its styling) is a cute look. Yet, something has been nagging at me about the jacket. After thinking about it a little, I decided that what’s bothering me about the boyfriend jacket is that it’s basically nothing more than a classic suit jacket (and so are the J. Crew Schoolboy Jackets). Once upon a time, I had to suffer the indignity of wearing suits for my career. That’s no longer the case, thank goodness. Still, the damage has been done.
Thus, it’s likely that I’ll never wear this IRL.
Since I am a major pack rat, I dug through my old suits and came up with a Ralph Lauren jacket that is nearly a deadringer for the J. Crew version. I play around with it and do my version of the “Boyfriend/Schoolboy Jacket”…

A schoolboy needs a vintage Coach backpack …

Details …
I over-expose the jacket picture for clarity.

I also wear with the RL jacket and vintage Coach backpack, a black ruffle blouse with rhinestone buttons from Cynthia Vincent Twelfth Street, a skirt from Topshop, a Target rhinestone necklace as a bracelet, and fuschia (with purple velvet bows) Marc Jacobs slingbacks.
I recently received a package from J. Crew and its related post is coming soon. TTYL, Carole

Mmmh so beyond your timeless jacket’s “Urban CHIC-issime Appeal” I really like the way your colored/floral skirt AND your pretty Heels emphasize your pale legs’s ethereal Sensuality !!!
ps: Eeeeuuuuuhhhh (“very shy”) Dear Carole I am Frankly Sorry BUT Actually I don’t understand your response on my last comment . . .

You’re so right, the J.Crew boyfriend jacket is a barely disguised suit jacket. I do love the way that they pair it which much more girly/romantic pieces, and think it’s lovely that you did that too with your own jacket =) I love the pattern on that skirt btw! And as always, your shoes are awesome.

Thank you. I think the shoes are the best part of this outfit. I like the “boyfriend” idea in theory, but not in practice.
