Dog Days

In just a few minutes, Mr. Sasy and I are taking Casey (our dog) to the dog park.  Casey is such a social girl and loves to meet other pooches.

I do wish she’d pose in photos with me, but she gets upset by the camera — maybe she thinks it’s trying to steal her soul.  Perhaps in time, she’ll “ham it up”, but until then, I only will be able to use my awful little “point and shoot” to sneak a couple of pics here and there.  I hope I will get some cute photos of her today.

And now, back to the fashion portion of our program … I wear a giraffe print dress from Moschino Cheap and Chic, a cardigan by TSE, a double buckle belt from Ralph Lauren, and booties from Nina Ricci.

The shoes arrived just last week.  I was so excited to get them.  I’ve kept a weather eye on them all season and when eluxury.com (RIP*) did an additional percentage off, I ended up getting them at 75% off retail.  Score!

I adore these!  I think they’ll be more appropriate to the upcoming fall season though.

That’s all for now.  See you soon.  — Carole

* As you probably remember, eluxury will be closing down retail operations in a couple of weeks.

Abstract Impact

I have a lot of prints in my wardrobe and most of them are florals.  But every now and then, a particularly interesting abstract print makes its way into the fold.  Tonight I wear an abstract print dress from Moschino Cheap and Chic, a no name cardigan it seems I am always wearing, and shoes from Bruno Frisoni.

I’ve had the shoes for a while, but rarely wear them.  They are every bit as treacherous as they appear in the photos.  I am always sure to know in advance I won’t be walking much when I wear them. :)

A Ralph Lauren State of Mind

Earlier tonight, while trying to decide what to wear, I grabbed a few things I haven’t worn in a while.  When I looked at the final result, I realized my look could have just come off the Ralph Lauren Fall 2009 runway.  His collection *was* one of my favorites for the Fall 2009 season and I believe it is because many of the pieces that he showed are so similar to pieces I already have in my wardrobe.

In these pictures, I wear a dress in eggplant by Roland Nivelais from many years ago, a cardigan by Alessandro Dell’Acqua from several years ago, chains from Steven Dweck that are *only* a couple of years old, and my red Alexander McQueen shoes from several seasons ago that I hope you’re not tired of seeing yet. With all of the shoes I have, you’d think I would have more *red* shoes, but I don’t.  This is clearly something I need to work on. :)

Looking Ahead #1

I haven’t done one of these “inspirational/mood” posts since I had my old blog, so I think it is time to do one now. I know it’s a little early to be thinking about Fall 2009, but I’m so tired of the current season offerings that I can’t help but look ahead a little …

I love a classic coat — I think *everyone* does. The “fur number” from Michael Kors is so “early Carrie” from “Sex and the City”, don’t you think? Equally stunning are the cloth coats from Pringle and Moschino.

Other Fall 2009 standouts include the layered looks from Ralph Lauren and Missoni that I refer to as “Pajama Chic”. These looks appear so comfortable that I may want to sleep in them. :)

And of course, in uncertain economic times, “Ultra-Feminine” and “Lady-Like Dressing” are traditional standbys. I am particularly intrigued by these looks from Erin Fetherston, Antonio Marras, Rocco Barocco, Jason Wu, and Etro.

Thanks, as always, for reading. More on the way soon. — Carole

Pirate Chic

Alexander McQueen, Wayf, vintage collar, Loeffler Randall Mabel

This evening (Friday) I wear my cherished Alexander Mcqueen “Pirate Map Skirt”. I remember seeing this print on either McQueens’s runway or in one of his lookbooks and falling in love instantly. I don’t remember exactly which season that was (so if you know, PLMK), but the pirate theme is a recurring inspiration in McQueen’s work (remember the skull scarf, the skull charms on accessories, the “Shipwrecked” collection, etc).

Anyway, it was my first trip to our (new at the time) Neiman Marcus Last Call and there it was — as pristine as if it just rolled out onto the regular NM selling floor. I was so overjoyed, I nearly wept.

Not only is the print so interesting, it has (likely) hundreds of tiny knife pleats and a braided leather belt attached at its high waist. I wear it with a blouse from Wayf that I picked up at the crazy Saks 70% off sale last fall (sigh, the good old days), a vintage collar I bought on ebay, and my Loeffler Randall Mabel shoes that have been getting so much wear this season.

Thanks for reading. I will be back at the beginning of next week. The rest of the weekend, I will be with my family spending some quality time.  See you soon!   – Carole
