Alexander McQueen, Wayf, vintage collar necklace, Loeffler Randall Mabel
This evening (Friday) I wear my cherished Alexander Mcqueen “Pirate Map Skirt”. I remember seeing this print on either McQueens’s runway or in one of his lookbooks and falling in love instantly. I don’t remember exactly which season that was (so if you know, PLMK), but the pirate theme is a recurring inspiration in McQueen’s work (remember the skull scarf, the skull charms on accessories, the “Shipwrecked” collection, etc).
Anyway, it was my first trip to our (new at the time) Neiman Marcus Last Call and there it was — as pristine as if it just rolled out onto the regular NM selling floor. I was so overjoyed, I nearly wept.
Not only is the print so interesting, it has (likely) hundreds of tiny knife pleats and a braided leather belt attached at its high waist. I wear it with a blouse from Wayf that I picked up at the crazy Saks 70% off sale last fall (sigh, the good old days), a vintage collar I bought on ebay, and my Loeffler Randall Mabel shoes that have been getting so much wear this season.

You must have felt so happy. I think that print is so great, and I really love the braided belt accent.
What NM Last Call do you go to btw? I think I went to the one in Milpitas once and it was shockingly bare, but it might have been during a bad week.

this skirt is coming from Spring Summer 2006 collection. I’m going to list the dress in same print. I wasn’t able to find any pictures from the runway as well. The skirt is amazing and it suits you so very wonderful!
