I promised it and here it is … Tracy Feith for Target Review, Part Two. As I mentioned earlier, I didn’t expect to like or buy any of the Tracy Feith pieces when I went to Target last week. But I walked out with the Leather Biker Jacket ( reviewed here ) and this — the Floral Strppy Dress – Wave Ecru. Strppy looks like a misspelling, but this is how Target spells it on their site, so who I am to question?
Keep in mind this is a “try on” post — you know, a means of seeing the reality before it’s too late.
I show the dress in two somewhat different ways — well, I just change out the shoes and accessories. I think the second look is a little better than the first because I LOVE to mix patterns. BUT I’ll not be wearing either one out of the house, unless I bring leggings or skinny jeans into the mix. What bothers me in both cases is having bare arms AND legs at the same time. Again, I ask, “What kind of review would this be without pictures?” Here’s the first way …

Tracy Feith for Target, Samsonite, Prada, vintage
More details …

Vintage "tribal" necklace

Prada
In the first way, I decided to wear it with a Samsonite vest. Yes, the luggage people. I haven’t kept up with the brand, but I am of the impression that their clothing line does (or did) quite well in Europe. IIRC, Alexander McQueen was the designer for the women’s wear at the time of this vest. The shoes are Prada. The vintage, tribal style necklace is a little something I picked up on ebay some time ago.
Now, the second way …

Tracy Feith for Target, Samsonite, YSL, Topshop

Topshop necklace

YSL Casablanca shoes
The shoes are YSL and are from one of Pilati’s first collections for the brand. The necklace is from Topshop.
Commentary on the Dress …
- Ok, it’s very well known that this dress is short. It *really* is. Fortunately, I’m really short too, so I guess that makes us even.
- Second, it runs very small. I sized up two sizes — partly because I don’t like anything too tight fitting and also to try and get an inch or two of extra length.
- It’s very nicely made, with detail I didn’t expect to find in such an inexpensive piece. The shoulder straps are adjustable and the back is partially elasticized for a secure fit.
In summary, I am very pleased with both pieces I bought. I do wish the ripstop dress had been available too, but alas, it was not meant to be. Without a doubt, the Tracy Feith for Target collection is the best Go International collection Target has done. Here’s to hoping they continue to do such good work.
Addendum:
I did the first part of this post a few days ago and thought at that time, I would not publish it. I have since restyled the Tracy Feith dress and Samsonite vest with ruched, denim leggings and different shoes. I think it’s a little better. Still, I’m not certain I will actually wear this anywhere. It’s a cute dress, but I should have tried it on before washing and wearing. Such is life …

The “Tribal fineries” of the last pair of Shoes are “Fetishistically” Bewitching . . .
ps: Oooooh I Frankly think that you declines the cocktail “bare arms and legs” with a lot of “neo romantic” Stylishness, and that it is truly an exquisite way to emphasize the sensuality of your porcelain skin !!!

Aw, I think the dress looks very nice on you, both bare legged and covered up! I automatically dismissed it as being too short, but you wear it very well
(Also the denim, ruched, zippered (!) leggings and the shoes in the last look are amazing — where are they from?)

Antoine — Thanks again! I always feel honored to receive such kind comments from you!
Goldenmeans — Thank you. I think I have developed a love/hate relationship with that dress. I don’t know who did the leggings — the tag is missing and they are OLD — they are probably from the last time leggings made an appearance
The shoes are from Topshop and I suspect that they are intended to be knockoffs of the LV “Tribal” shoe — though I’m not 100% certain since there’s inevitably a shoe or two that manages to escape my close notice every season and this would be one of those.
