Casey and her Mom

My sweet girl, Casey, decided to grace me with some pictures and I share them with you here.

Everything I’m wearing is Ralph Lauren. The top and skirt are from a different season than the shoes though. Basically, I futzed around with Casey all day and will be working the rest of the night to get caught up with my projects. Later, Carole

To A Tee

Usage of the phrase “to a tee” is oftentimes attributed to the sport of golf and sometimes it refers to something else entirely.  In this case, I use it to note the look and feel of the necklace I wear today to the jewelry of Mr. T from the old tv show, “The A Team”.

Ah, Mr. T. What a visionary. Doesn’t he look sooo Givenchy Fall 2008?

I bought this necklace about a year ago from an eccentric elderly woman who had several bold pieces like this one.  She said that this Aztec necklace is a reproduction of a museum piece and is from the 1960s time period.  I go through intervals of love and hate with it.  There’s *something* about it, but it’s gawdy at the same time, if that makes any sense to you.  Also, if you look really closely, you can see the mens’ “manly apparatuses”.  :)   I can see “old school” Mr. T wearing it with his melange of chains.   Anyway, today I am loving it and wear it for the first time with a Gryphon ruffle coat, a Heidi Weisel shell, JPG pants, and Costume National sandals.

A Cover Up

No, this is not a post about the latest left-wing or right-wing conspiracy :) , it’s about cleverly keeping my injured knee away from view.  If you follow my blog, then you know I’ve been nursing a rather persistent knee injury.  Obviously, I’m much better now because I’m back in my heels, but I still have an unattractive wrap around my knee.  Since we are going to a very, very nice restaurant tonight, I don’t want to look gimpy (even though I am at the moment).

I wear a top by Jean Paul Gaultier, a tiered dress worn as a skirt from Target,  Giuseppe Zanotti wedges from the upcoming season, and vintage earrings from the 80s.  I also belted the top with a belt from an old Bebe dress.  It was my first and last Bebe purchase it turns out, no particular reason, just the way it is.  Closeup of the shoes …

I can’t tell you how much I’m looking forward to getting out and going somewhere nice, especially since I’ve been home-bound for the past week.  Anyway, we are going to one of my favorite restaurants.  The food they serve is some of the tastiest and innovative anywhere.  In fact, the chef is a recent “Iron Chef America” champion, beating out Bobby Flay.  Mr. Sasy and I *never* watch tv (well, Mr. Sasy does occasionally enjoy “The History Channel”, *I* never watch),  though we *did* make an exception for this episode of ICA.  I have to say that Chef Kinch cooked the pants off of Flay.   Also fascinating is that one of this restaurant’s sommeliers looks exactly like a young Yves Saint Laurent – I hope he’s there this evening as I get such a kick out of that (and like Chef Kinch, he’s exceptional at his art too).  All in all, it should shape up to be a nice little “get out of the house” evening, so I’m sure you can understand my excitement.

Well, we’re off.  More posts are coming soon.  Thanks for checking back.  — Carole

On The Mend

Thanks to everyone for your kind wishes for a speedy recovery.  My knee is much better and it won’t be long before I’m out of sweats and knee wrapping.  Trust me, the look is not photo worthy. :)

In the meantime, I will show you one of the assignments from my photography class I took several months ago.  The task was to find something in the genre of fine art and use it as inspiration for a photograph.  I chose Wayne Thiebaud’s work as my stimulus.   In particular, I selected Thiebaud’s “Pies, Pies, Pies”, “Cakes”, and “Hot Dog Row”.

The photographer who led the class was far more impressed with my other work (not shown here) – I think shoes just aren’t his thing.

As I implied in the title of this post, I’m much better and it shouldn’t be but another couple of days before I am able to strap on the stilettos and get back to business.  See you soon.  — Carole

I’m temporarily out of commission.  I had a little accident earlier in the week playing with Casey (my dog) and my knee got injured.  To be honest, I thought some of the heels I wear would get me first. :)   Anyway, these arrived last week and until I can wear them and show IRL photos, I’ll share them this way …
