Lace was seen on many runways for Fall 2008. Lacey items are some of those things you never want to discard from your wardrobe, no matter what the fashion magazines tell you to do. Lace always makes a reappearance every couple of years or so. This fall it’s back with a vengeance. Balmain showed a ‘rock lace’ chick, who wore a pretty, little, form-fitting lace dress with fantastic fringed booties. Chanel (mostly) restricted lace to the leg in some amazing, sure-to-be bank-breaking tights — undoubtedly, there will be many low-cost, inspired versions available. While Derek Lam and Alexander McQueen showed beautiful, dressy, fairy tale-esque, lace dresses, with Derek Lam using metallic lace on his version. Prada showed schoolmarm-ish looks, with severe hair and mostly minimal makeup, yet some pieces were transparent and worn with boy short-looking underpinnings. And you can always count on Blumarine and Collette Dinnigan to show a romantic, ultra-feminine girl. The key to wearing lace is care in not looking too matronly.
As I’m sure you’ve guessed by now, I will be wearing lace this fall too. Here are some of the looks I’m thinking about wearing this season…and thanks always for reading. –Carole

SASY – Moni & Curella, Thank you both so much for your sweet comments. You’ve made my day!
rachel — Outfit #3 looks so great & flattering!! The shape is perfect on you. I like outfit #1 but I think it’d look great with more delicate shoes instead? And #4 makes the outfit appear top heavy, I think lower cut tops would look better paired with the skirt
